Lochiel Luxury Accommodation
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lochiel Luxury Accommodation on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit formal, but this place actually feels more like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s house who happens to have excellent taste. It’s tucked into the hills at around the 1590 mark on that winding road, and you know what? The drive up through the Dandenongs is half the experience right there.
The thing about this spot is that it gets the balance right between being polished (hence that solid 4-star rating and 8.6 score from guests) and still feeling authentic to the area. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by mountain ash and tree ferns – it’s proper Dandenongs country up here. The accommodations themselves are thoughtfully done without being stuffy. There’s attention to detail that you notice gradually, like really good coffee setup and windows positioned to catch the morning light filtering through the canopy. Parking’s straightforward too, which honestly matters when you’re navigating those narrow mountain roads, especially if you’re not used to them.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main Olinda village bustle (though still close enough to walk to some decent cafes if you’re up for it), but you get these amazing night sounds instead. The lyrebirds start up early morning, which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on how much sleep you need. The area attracts a good mix of people – couples doing the romantic mountain getaway thing, obviously, but also folks who actually want to explore the national park properly or hit up some of the gardens nearby. Honestly, if you’re planning to visit during autumn when the deciduous trees are turning, book way ahead because everyone has the same idea. Winter’s actually lovely too though – less crowded, and there’s something special about having a warm place to retreat to when it’s properly crisp outside. The hosts seem to know their stuff about what’s worth doing locally, which is refreshing after staying places where the recommendations are clearly just generic tourism board suggestions.
Exclusive resorts offer guests unparalleled luxury and comfort in breathtaking locations, with world-class dining, spa services, and activities tailored to create the ultimate vacation experience.

The overall vibe is unexplainable. Absolute heaven!

The entry was a little dark and hard to see. Maybe a brighter light? It was also difficult to get out and judge traffic. Maybe a mirror on the opposite side for safety.

The $50 excess charge if the kitchen wasn’t perfect upon leaving. For the cost of the accommodation, that should be included.
