Les lodges de Sainte-Suzanne
Les lodges de Sainte-Suzanne Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Les lodges de Sainte-Suzanne, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star property tucked away on rue du Verger. But you know what? Sometimes the most memorable stays come from places that don’t try too hard to impress. The individual lodges are scattered across the grounds in a way that feels natural — not like someone just plunked down a bunch of cabins and called it a day. There’s free parking right on site, which might sound basic but trust me, after driving through those narrow medieval streets in Sainte-Suzanne, you’ll appreciate having a guaranteed spot.
The Lodge Experience
Each lodge feels more like a private retreat than a typical hotel room. Mine had this cozy, almost Scandinavian vibe with wood accents and large windows that actually frame the surrounding countryside. The kitchenette was surprisingly well-equipped — I mean, I wasn’t planning to cook elaborate meals, but having the option to make morning coffee or store some local cheese and wine felt like a small indulgence. The space is thoughtfully designed too, with enough room to spread out without feeling cavernous or impersonal.
Location Magic
Here’s where this place really shines, and the guest ratings back this up — couples consistently rate the location 8.8 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from one of France’s most beautiful villages, but far enough away that you escape the daytime tourist crowds. Sainte-Suzanne sits on this dramatic rocky outcrop, and from certain angles around the property, you catch glimpses of the medieval ramparts and the Erve valley stretching beyond. It’s the kind of setting that makes you want to linger over breakfast just to soak it all in.
Exploring the Area
What I loved most was how the lodges serve as a perfect base for exploring the Mayenne region without feeling rushed. The village itself is this perfectly preserved medieval gem — honestly, walking those ancient streets feels like stepping back in time. But beyond the obvious charm, you’re also positioned well for hiking in the surrounding countryside or visiting some of the lesser-known châteaux in the area. The staff actually knows the region well and can point you toward trails and local spots that don’t make it into most guidebooks.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on doing the basics really well rather than overwhelming you with amenities you don’t need. The combination of privacy, natural beauty, and proximity to one of France’s most enchanting villages creates this perfect balance between relaxation and exploration. It’s particularly appealing for couples looking for a romantic getaway that feels authentic rather than manufactured — the kind of place where you can disconnect from the usual routine and actually enjoy each other’s company. The fact that recent guests consistently rate it highly tells you this isn’t just marketing speak; it’s a place that delivers on its quiet promises.
Experience exceptional vacation village resorts that feature spacious villas, recreational facilities, and personalized services designed to create memorable family holidays and romantic getaways.

Met by Bruno and may I say what a warm and welcoming man. Basically told me everything I need to know on the walk to the chalet. An asset to you and the guy who does the ground keeping, you know the Van Hallen looking guy. What a pleasant man and good worker.
