First Impressions
You know what struck me first about Lemon Tree Lodge – 2 Willow View? It’s tucked away on Broadway Lane in this absolutely charming Cotswolds village called South Cerney, and honestly, the setting feels like something straight out of a countryside postcard. This four-star property sits quietly among traditional stone cottages, and I mean quietly — the kind of peaceful that makes you realize how much city noise you’ve been carrying in your shoulders. The lodge itself has this lovely cottage-style architecture that blends seamlessly with the village character, complete with well-tended gardens that actually make you want to sit outside with a cup of tea.
The Space and Comfort
The apartment here is genuinely spacious — not just “hotel spacious” but actually roomy enough that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of each other. What I really appreciated was the thoughtful layout, with a proper sitting area that feels separate from the sleeping space. The kitchen is well-equipped too, which comes in handy when you want to grab supplies from the local shops and have a quiet breakfast without rushing anywhere. The furnishings strike that perfect balance between comfortable and tasteful, though I’d say it leans more toward cozy country charm than sleek modern design.
Village Life and Surroundings
South Cerney itself is one of those villages where you can actually walk everywhere you need to go — the local pub, a few shops, and some lovely walking paths that wind along the nearby lakes. I spent quite a bit of time exploring the Cotswold Water Park, which is literally on your doorstep here. The area has this network of former gravel pits that have been transformed into these beautiful lakes, perfect for gentle walks or just finding a quiet spot to read. It’s the kind of place where couples seem to naturally gravitate toward long, meandering conversations while strolling the waterside paths.
Practical Considerations
The location really does work well for exploring the broader Cotswolds — you’re close enough to Cirencester for proper shopping and dining, but far enough from the main tourist routes that you’re not dealing with crowds of day-trippers. Parking isn’t an issue here, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to explore the area by car. The property management is responsive without being intrusive, and they clearly know the area well enough to offer genuinely helpful suggestions about local walks and restaurant recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both secluded and accessible at the same time. You get that proper countryside retreat experience — morning walks by the water, evenings spent planning the next day’s village exploration, that sort of thing — but you’re not completely cut off from civilization. The combination of the peaceful village setting, the comfortable accommodation, and the genuine warmth of the Cotswolds countryside creates exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes couples want to extend their stay. It’s particularly lovely if you’re looking for somewhere to properly unwind together without the distractions of resort-style entertainment or busy hotel common areas.

Neeta
The location was lovely but I slipped on the slippery road outside the accommodation and fractured my ankle within half an hour of our arrival. This ruined the holiday for all 5 of us and I had to be collected early by my daughter as I needed more space in the car. The staff were very helpful.
