Cercedilla is one of those Sierra de Guadarrama towns that locals have been quietly enjoying for decades while tourists rush past to more famous destinations. The hotel’s position is actually brilliant — you’re close enough to the train station that you don’t need a car, but far enough into the hills that you wake up to proper mountain air and pine forests stretching in every direction. I mean, there’s a reason couples rate this location so highly (9.1 out of 10, which is pretty impressive). The hiking trails literally start from your doorstep, and if you’re into skiing, the slopes at Navacerrada are just a short drive away.

The Accommodation

My room had this wonderfully rustic-meets-comfortable vibe that you don’t often find — wooden beams overhead, but with all the modern touches you actually want (decent Wi-Fi, a proper shower, heating that works). The windows frame views of either the surrounding mountains or the hotel’s own gardens, and honestly, both options work well. What struck me most was how quiet everything was — no traffic noise, no city hum, just the occasional bird call and wind through the trees.

Dining & Atmosphere

The restaurant serves up solid regional cuisine that feels authentic without being overly fancy. I had some excellent lamb that was clearly sourced locally, and their wine selection focuses on Spanish bottles that pair perfectly with the mountain setting. The dining room has these big windows that look out onto the forest, so even dinner feels connected to the landscape. There’s also parking right on-site, which might sound mundane but trust me — when you’re carrying hiking gear or just don’t want to hunt for a spot in a mountain town, it matters.
