Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of quirky places, but Jungle House no.26 at Three Lochs Holiday Park genuinely caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first pull up to Newton Stewart and wind through the holiday park grounds, you’re expecting maybe a standard cabin or caravan situation, but then you spot this place and it’s like… well, it’s not what you’d call a traditional hotel at all. The whole setup feels more like someone’s incredibly cool friend decided to create the most unique retreat possible and just happened to make it available to the rest of us. There’s something wonderfully unpolished about the approach – no fancy signage or corporate branding, just this distinctive jungle-themed house that stands out among the other accommodations without trying too hard.

What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both wild and comfortable at the same time. The interior design – honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name, but whoever put this together has a real eye for creating atmosphere without going overboard on the theme. You know what I mean? It’s jungle-inspired but not in that cheesy, fake-plants-everywhere way that makes you cringe. The space actually feels lived-in and thoughtful, with details that make you want to poke around and discover things. And the location within Three Lochs is pretty brilliant actually – you’re tucked away enough to feel like you’re in your own little world, but you can still easily walk to the main facilities if you need anything. The parking situation is straightforward (always a relief), and I found it surprisingly quiet even though you’re technically in a holiday park setting. During my stay in early autumn, the place had this cozy, almost secretive vibe – like you’d stumbled onto something special that not everyone knows about yet.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t for everyone, and I think that’s exactly the point. If you’re looking for room service and a concierge desk, you’ll be disappointed. But if you want something with actual personality, where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with a story rather than just booking a generic room… well, that’s when this place really shines. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s incredibly cool house than staying in a typical hotel, which explains why it’s got such a high rating from people who actually get what it’s trying to do. Newton Stewart itself is perfectly positioned for exploring Galloway – you’re close enough to the coast and the forest parks that you can easily day-trip, but far enough from the main tourist routes that you’re not dealing with crowds. I’d definitely go back, probably in spring next time when the surrounding area is even more lush. Just don’t expect anything conventional, because that’s really not the point here.
