Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Jiva Beach Resort – I mean, Çalış isn’t exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think of Turkish beach resorts. Most people head straight to Ölüdeniz for the famous lagoon, but you know what? They’re missing out. This place sits right on Çalış Beach, which is actually one of the better stretches of sand in the Fethiye area, and way less crowded than the tourist traps closer to town.

The resort itself feels properly upscale without being stuffy about it. The ultra all-inclusive setup here actually means something – I’m talking about decent wine with dinner (not the usual cheap stuff), late-night room service that doesn’t cost extra, and a spa that’s included in your stay. The rooms are spacious, and if you can swing it, get one facing the beach because the sunset views over the bay are genuinely spectacular. There’s something magical about watching the sun dip behind the Greek islands while you’re sipping a cocktail on your balcony. The air conditioning works well too, which… well, if you’ve stayed at some Turkish hotels in summer, you’ll appreciate that detail.

What really sets this place apart is the location on Karagedik – it’s far enough from the main Fethiye hustle to feel peaceful, but close enough that you can easily grab a dolmuş (the local minibuses) into town for some proper Turkish street food or to explore the famous Fethiye market on Tuesdays. The staff actually knows the area well and can point you toward the good local spots, not just the tourist restaurants. I’d recommend walking down to the small harbor area in the evenings – there are a few family-run fish restaurants there that locals frequent, and the whole scene feels authentically Turkish rather than resort-bubble artificial. The beach itself is pebbly in parts but mostly sandy, and the water stays shallow for quite a way out, which makes it perfect for families. Plus, the resort provides decent beach loungers and umbrellas without the usual fighting-for-space drama you get at busier beaches. Check-in was smooth, parking is free and actually adequate (surprisingly rare for Turkish coastal hotels), and the WiFi works throughout the property – even down by the beach, which honestly impressed me more than it should have.
