Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay
You know what caught me off guard about Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay? It’s actually way more polished than I expected from a holiday park. I mean, when you hear “holiday park” you’re probably thinking basic cabins and communal bathrooms, but this place on Truro Street has really stepped up its game. The moment you pull into the property, you realize this isn’t your typical caravan park setup – there’s proper landscaping, the reception area looks like it belongs at a resort, and honestly, the whole vibe feels more like a mid-range hotel that just happens to have some serious space to spread out.
The location is pretty clever too. Torquay might not be the flashiest part of Hervey Bay, but you’re still only about ten minutes from the Esplanade where all the whale watching tours kick off (and trust me, between July and November, you’ll want to be on one of those boats). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets here in the evenings – you’re far enough from the main tourist strip that you’re not dealing with the Scarness crowds, but close enough that grabbing dinner at one of the decent pubs along the waterfront is totally doable. The Woolworths on Boat Harbour Drive is maybe five minutes away, which is clutch if you’re staying in one of their self-contained units and want to cook instead of eating out every night.
Here’s the thing about the accommodations – they’ve got this mix of older-style cabins and newer villas, and if you can swing it, definitely ask for one of the newer setups. The older ones aren’t bad (everything’s clean and functional), but the newer villas have proper kitchens with full-size fridges and actual counter space, plus the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train. The pools are surprisingly decent too, especially the main one which gets good sun most of the day. I noticed families tend to dominate the pool area during school holidays, but outside those times it’s pretty chill. Parking’s never an issue – there’s heaps of space, and they don’t make you feel like you’re packed in like sardines. One small thing that bugged me was the Wi-Fi can be pretty patchy depending on where your cabin is, but honestly, that might be a feature not a bug if you’re trying to properly switch off. The staff at reception were genuinely helpful too – not just going through the motions, but actually knew the area well enough to steer me toward the better coffee spots and away from the tourist traps.
Premium village resorts combine the charm of traditional village life with modern luxury accommodations, creating unique destinations where travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and relaxation.

It was exactly as the photos showed, and provided wonderful play spaces and pool spaces for families (our daughter loved the 'mushroom waterfall'). What could be improved: The floors were quite dirty. After we showered, by the time we went to bed, our feet were significantly discoloured again. However, this could possibly be because the entrance...

Unfortunately when I had my doors open to enjoy the breeze, my neighbours smoking would enter the room.
