HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what really caught me off guard about Haven Skegness 20 Donna Nook? It’s basically this hidden gem tucked away in the holiday park that nobody really talks about, but honestly – it punches way above its weight. I mean, when you first pull into the Haven park itself, you’re thinking standard British seaside holiday accommodation, right? But this particular spot at number 20 is something completely different. The moment you step inside, there’s this boutique hotel vibe that feels almost… I don’t know, unexpectedly sophisticated? Like someone actually thought about design and comfort instead of just cramming in as many beds as possible.

The location is brilliant if you know Skegness properly – you’re literally a stone’s throw from the seal sanctuary at Donna Nook (which is absolutely mad during pupping season, by the way), but far enough from the main Skegness chaos that you can actually hear yourself think. I stayed there in early autumn and could walk down to the beach in about ten minutes without dealing with the crowds around the pier and Fantasy Island. The accommodation itself has this really thoughtful layout – proper kitchen facilities that you’d actually want to cook in, not those depressing little kitchenettes you usually get, and the living space genuinely feels like somewhere you’d want to spend time rather than just crash after a day out. What really impressed me was the attention to detail though – decent coffee (thank god), proper shower pressure, and they’ve managed to make it feel cozy without being cramped.

Honestly, the 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’re there. It’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually cares about the guest experience rather than just processing bookings. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward, parking right outside is a godsend (especially if you’re hauling beach gear and kids’ stuff), and the whole setup works brilliantly whether you’re planning to explore the Lincolnshire coast or just want a proper base for Skegness itself. I actually ended up extending my stay because it felt more like staying at a really good friend’s place than typical holiday accommodation. The only tiny downside – and I’m being picky here – is that being in the holiday park means you do get some noise from families during peak times, but it dies down pretty early in the evening. If you’re looking for something that’s both comfortable and genuinely different from the usual Skegness options, this is honestly your best bet.

Recommend anyone going to fantasy island in Ingoldmells, a 20 drive away. Seal sanctuary was also a good day out. Best fiah and chips was Seaview fisheries, near the seal sanctuary on Seaview Road.
