What I really appreciated was the mix – some spots are perfect if you’ve got kids who want to run around, others are tucked away enough that you can pretend you’re the only ones there. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Borth during summer will appreciate.

Here’s the thing though – and this is where knowing the area helps – Clarach Bay itself is one of those spots that locals tend to keep slightly quieter about. It’s got that proper Welsh coast feeling without the crowds you get down at Aberystwyth beach. From H3 Everleigh, you can walk down to the bay in maybe five minutes, and there’s something quite satisfying about having your morning coffee while watching the dog walkers and early surfers do their thing. The location means you’re close enough to Borth for supplies (that little Co-op is a lifesaver) but far enough out that you feel like you’ve actually escaped somewhere. I mean, the 8.7 rating makes sense when you consider most people are comparing it to standard holiday parks rather than boutique hotels – it’s sort of in its own category. Check-in was refreshingly human too, none of that corporate efficiency nonsense. Just don’t expect luxury spa treatments or anything – this is more about getting the fundamentals really right in a setting that does most of the work for them.
