Golden Palm Resort MV194

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Golden Palm Resort in Chapel Saint Leonards, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The whole “no official star rating” thing had me curious, and honestly, sometimes those can be the best discoveries. This place sits right in the heart of this charming little Lincolnshire coastal town, just a proper walk from the beach (maybe 5 minutes if you’re not dawdling), and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it that I really appreciated.
The thing about Chapel Saint Leonards is that it’s not trying to be Blackpool or Brighton – it’s got this lovely, understated seaside charm that feels genuinely English. The resort itself reflects that perfectly. I mean, calling it a “resort” might sound fancy, but it’s more like a really well-thought-out boutique place that someone clearly put a lot of care into. The rooms have this eclectic mix of modern comfort and quirky touches that you just don’t get in your standard chain hotels. My room had these gorgeous thick curtains that actually blocked out the morning light (thank goodness), and the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed whole. The bathroom was compact but cleverly designed – everything you need without wasting space.
What really won me over, though, was the attention to detail and the fact that the staff actually seemed to know the area. When I asked about decent fish and chips, they didn’t just point me to the nearest tourist trap – they recommended this little place about ten minutes down the road that locals actually use. The resort’s common areas have this relaxed, almost homey feel where you can actually imagine settling in with a book on a rainy afternoon. Parking was straightforward (always a relief in coastal towns), and check-in was refreshingly quick without all the upselling nonsense you sometimes get. I stayed during a quieter period in late September, so I can’t speak to how hectic it might get in peak summer, but the whole place has this laid-back vibe that suggests they handle crowds without losing their charm. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does what it does really well without trying to be everything to everyone. If you’re looking for a proper English seaside experience without the crowds and commercialization, and you appreciate places with a bit of personality over corporate polish, you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.

The caravan itself was surprisingly spacious, especially the living area. The 5 of us managed quite well. The shower was also much nicer than you'd expect for a caravan. Everything was well stocked and we had everything we needed.
