Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to the Emelda Sun Club – the name made it sound like one of those slightly dated Mediterranean resorts you see in brochures from the 90s. But walking through those doors, I mean, wow. This place actually gets it right in ways that surprised me.

The location in Camyuva is sort of perfect if you know the area. You’re tucked away from the main Kemer chaos (which can get pretty intense during peak season), but you’re still close enough that a quick dolmuş ride gets you to the harbor or those little restaurants along the waterfront that locals actually eat at. The thing about Camyuva is it’s got this quieter vibe compared to central Kemer – you’ll hear roosters in the morning instead of construction noise, which honestly was a relief. The hotel sits back from Turizm Caddesi just enough that you don’t get the constant stream of tour buses, but close enough that you’re not stranded if you want to explore on your own.

What really struck me about Emelda Sun Club is how they’ve managed to feel genuinely upscale without that sterile five-star hotel atmosphere. The staff – and I’m talking about everyone from housekeeping to the guy who sets up the beach chairs – they actually seem to care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived stupidly early), and throughout the week I kept noticing these little touches that you don’t always get. Fresh towels that actually smell fresh, not like industrial detergent. Pool areas that get cleaned properly, not just skimmed. The kind of attention to detail that makes you realize why this place has an 8.8 rating – it’s earned, not bought.

The food situation is where a lot of Turkish resort hotels either nail it or completely miss the mark, and Emelda Sun Club definitely nails it. They’ve got the usual international buffet stuff, sure, but they also do proper Turkish breakfast spreads that rival what you’d get at a good lokanta in Istanbul. The evening meals rotate through regional specialties, and you can tell they’re using decent ingredients – the vegetables taste like they came from actual gardens, not industrial suppliers. There’s this little outdoor seating area where you can eat dinner with the Taurus Mountains as your backdrop, and honestly, it’s one of those views that makes you forget to check your phone for hours.

The beach access is solid – it’s a short walk down to a pebbly stretch that’s shared with a couple other hotels, but it never felt crowded when I was there in late spring. The water’s that impossible Mediterranean blue that photographs never quite capture, and clear enough that you can see your feet even when you’re swimming out past the shallow area. Pool situation is well thought out too – there’s a main pool that gets lively during the day, and a quieter section that’s perfect if you actually want to read a book without listening to pool volleyball games.

You know what really sold me on this place? It’s the kind of resort where you can be as social or as invisible as you want. Some hotels push the animation and activities so hard that you feel guilty for wanting to just chill. Here, there’s plenty going on if you want it, but nobody’s going to hunt you down if you’d rather spend the afternoon napping in a hammock.
