Eastcott Lodges
First Impressions
You know what hits you first about Eastcott Lodges? The absolute silence. I mean, coming from any city, the quiet here in North Tamerton is almost startling β in the best possible way. This four-star property sits tucked away in the Devon countryside, and honestly, it feels like you’ve stumbled onto something special that most people don’t know about yet. The lodges themselves have this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which I actually appreciate more than flashy places that scream for attention.
The Lodges and Comfort
Each lodge feels more like a friend’s really nice country house than a typical hotel room. The space is generous β you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around. What I loved most was the attention to practical details: proper storage space, decent lighting for reading, and windows that actually frame views worth looking at. The kitchenette setup works well if you want to grab supplies from the local village, though honestly, you might find yourself so relaxed you won’t want to cook much. The beds are properly comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re planning to unwind completely.
Location and Surroundings
North Tamerton isn’t exactly a household name, but that’s precisely why it works so well. You’re genuinely in rural Devon here β rolling fields, proper countryside walks, and the kind of scenery that makes you understand why people move to places like this. The village itself is tiny but charming, with a decent pub within walking distance if you fancy a pint and some local conversation. What surprised me was how easy it is to explore from here β you can reach the dramatic North Cornwall coast in about twenty minutes, but you’re also perfectly positioned for Dartmoor if that’s more your style.
The Experience
There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t oversell itself. Eastcott Lodges does what it does quietly and well β providing a peaceful base where you can actually hear yourself think. The staff seem to understand that people come here to escape, so they’re helpful without being intrusive. I spent most evenings just sitting outside my lodge with a glass of wine, watching the light change across the fields. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself going to bed earlier and waking up more rested than you have in months.
Why Guests Love It
The location consistently gets rave reviews, and after staying here, I completely understand why couples rate it so highly. There’s something about being properly away from everything that makes you focus on each other again β no city distractions, no constant noise, just good company and beautiful surroundings. The parking is right outside your lodge, which might sound trivial but makes a real difference when you’re loading and unloading. Most importantly, this place delivers on the promise of a genuine countryside retreat without any of the stuffiness you sometimes get at country hotels.

Nicola
Beautiful location with friendly staff. I booked self catering so that my life was easier with my 2 year old twins. I was extremely happy and very impressed with the accommodation. I'm sure the lodge was as big as my house. There was a man onside during the day maintaining the communal areas. The man was very friendly and was happy to advise on the...

Peace, quiet and tranquil surrounded by nature. If you want to escape this is the place! Lodge had everything we needed for a family of 4. Was great to spend time together playing outdoor games and walking the grounds.
