Discovery Parks – Swan Valley
You know what caught me off guard about Discovery Parks in Swan Valley? I was expecting your typical holiday park setup – maybe a bit dated, definitely touristy – but this place actually has some serious charm to it. It’s tucked away on Benara Road, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you feel like you’ve found this little pocket of calm that most people just drive past on their way to the wineries.
The thing about Swan Valley is that everyone talks about the wine tours and the chocolate factories, but they miss how genuinely peaceful it gets here in the evenings. I mean, you’re still only about 25 minutes from Perth’s city center, but come sunset, all you hear are the birds settling in for the night. The cabins themselves are actually really well thought out – proper kitchens (not those tiny camp ones), decent-sized bathrooms, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I stayed in one of their family cabins and was impressed by the little touches, like proper blackout curtains and enough power outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. The staff during check-in were refreshingly straightforward too – no overselling, just helpful tips about which local spots are worth your time.
What really works about this place is how it sits in the landscape. You’re literally surrounded by working vineyards and farms, so mornings have this authentic country feel, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere if you need proper shops or restaurants. The pool area gets busy during school holidays (fair warning), but most other times it’s pretty relaxed. I actually loved that they’ve got this mix of guests – families doing the wine region thing, couples on weekend getaways, and what seemed like a few Perth locals who just wanted to unplug for a bit. There’s something honest about a place that attracts that kind of variety. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can be a bit patchy in some cabins – which might be a blessing in disguise, honestly. Parking’s never an issue, which is more than I can say for a lot of places around the Swan Valley, especially during vintage season when the whole area gets packed with tour buses and weekend warriors.

Loved it! Adorable stuff. We arrived late in the night and they found the way to welcomed us anyway. Our cabin was great: clean, cozy and with all the conforts we needed. We'll surely come back.

Central to where we needed it to be. Staff were very helpful and the cabins were clean and well resourced with great utilities.

The iron had not been cleaned and caused a nasty stain on a white shirt. However a quick dash to the local mall saved the day.
