Discovery Parks – Robe
You know what surprised me about Discovery Parks – Robe? It’s actually way better than you’d expect from the name. I mean, when I first heard “discovery parks,” I was picturing some kind of generic holiday park with cramped cabins and crying kids everywhere. But this place on the Esplanade — honestly, it’s got this relaxed coastal vibe that just works.
The location is pretty much perfect if you’re doing the whole Limestone Coast thing. You’re literally across from the beach (and I mean literally, not in that annoying way people misuse it), so you can hear the waves from your accommodation. The Esplanade runs right along the water, which means evening walks are basically mandatory — you’ll see families fishing off the rocks and locals walking their dogs as the sun goes down. What I really liked is that you’re close enough to walk into town for dinner at Sails or grab coffee at Union Cafe, but far enough from the main strip that it doesn’t get noisy. Well, except during Easter when the whole town goes a bit mad with visitors, but that’s Robe for you.
The accommodations themselves are actually pretty solid for a 4-star setup. I stayed in one of their cabins and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it felt — none of that awkward holiday park furniture crammed into tiny spaces. The kitchen had everything you’d actually need (sharp knives, decent pots, even a proper coffee maker), which is rare in places like this. Parking’s right outside your door, which sounds boring but trust me, after a day exploring the Coorong or driving back from the Little Dip Conservation Park, you’ll appreciate not having to drag your stuff across a massive car park. The whole place feels well-maintained too — you know how some holiday accommodations have that slightly neglected feeling? This doesn’t.
Here’s the thing though — and this is why I’d actually recommend it — the staff seem to genuinely know the area. When I asked about the best spots for fishing, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic brochure. He told me about the jetty timing, mentioned which beaches were good for different conditions, even warned me about the wind patterns. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re only in town for a few days. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me because while it’s not fancy (no room service or spa treatments), it does exactly what you want from a coastal base — comfortable, clean, and connected to what makes Robe special. Plus, you’re a short drive from all the wineries if that’s your thing, and the Obelisk walk is practically on your doorstep.

I think that you should advertise and FEATURE your indoor pool!!! We loved its warth and availability!!! Many 6will be more attracted to your property if you promote this feature! What could be improved: Just that it was extremely pricey. And the option of a "beach front" apartment ? Once we got there we saw that this did not have a view of the...

Cabin was comfortable and clean.
Mentioned about an overhanging branch hitting the cabin during the night. Worker was there within about 10 mins to cut it down. Very good.

It was very crowded. Very little space between caravans and RV's.
It was much further out of the town than we had anticipated. Too far to walk.
