What really sets this place apart is how Louann (yes, there’s a real person behind the name) has managed to create something that feels both intimate and polished without trying too hard. The rooms have this cozy authenticity that you just can’t fake – thick stone walls that keep things naturally cool, wooden beams that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a real building with history, and windows that frame the kind of views that make you want to linger over morning coffee. I actually found myself spending way more time in the room than I usually do, which says something. The bed situation is spot-on too – none of that hotel pillow guesswork where you’re stacking three thin ones or drowning in something too puffy.

Labouheyre itself is one of those towns that tourists often zip through on their way to bigger destinations, but staying here gives you a different perspective on this part of the Landes. You’re close enough to the pine forests to actually smell them (especially after it rains), and there’s something peaceful about being in a place where locals still outnumber visitors. Parking is straightforward – no circling blocks or paying ridiculous fees – and the check-in process feels more like being welcomed into someone’s home than processing through a hotel system. The cottage doesn’t have an official star rating, which I think is actually perfect because it doesn’t fit into those standard categories anyway. It’s doing its own thing, and doing it really well. I’d definitely go back, probably when the weather’s cooler and I can spend more time exploring those forest paths that start practically at the doorstep.
