Corriefodly Holiday Park
You know what surprised me about Corriefodly Holiday Park? It’s actually nothing like what you’d expect from the name. I mean, when someone says “holiday park,” you’re probably picturing rows of static caravans and screaming kids, right? But this place sits right on the edge of Bridge of Cally – and honestly, if you blink driving through this tiny village, you’ll miss it entirely. The park itself feels more like a proper countryside retreat than your typical holiday camp setup.
The location is pretty clever, actually. You’re literally five minutes from the A93, which sounds busy but isn’t really – it’s just the main road that takes you deeper into the Cairngorms if that’s your thing. What I love is how they’ve positioned everything so you get these glimpses of the River Ardle through the trees, especially from the upper pitches. The owners clearly know their stuff because they’ve kept the mature trees instead of clearing everything out like some places do. There’s this lovely mix of static caravans, touring pitches, and a few wooden lodges that look like they were built with actual thought behind them, not just plonked down wherever. The facilities block is surprisingly modern too – proper hot showers, decent water pressure, and they actually keep it clean, which… well, anyone who’s stayed at holiday parks knows that’s not always guaranteed.
Bridge of Cally itself is basically a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of place, but that’s sort of the point. You’ve got the Cally Hotel right across the way if you fancy a proper dinner without driving to Blairgowrie (though that’s only about 15 minutes if you need bigger shops or a supermarket). The real draw here is that you’re perfectly positioned for day trips – Pitlochry’s half an hour north, Perth’s about 45 minutes south, and if you’re into hiking, the Cateran Trail literally passes through the village. I actually bumped into a couple of walkers one morning who were doing the full 64-mile circuit and said this was their favorite overnight stop because it felt genuinely peaceful rather than just remote. The staff seem to get that balance too – they’re helpful when you need them but not hovering around trying to organize activities every five minutes. Sometimes you just want to sit outside your caravan with a cup of tea and listen to the river, you know?
