I mean, Ingoldmells isn’t exactly sophisticated – it’s candy floss and amusement arcades and families with kids covered in sand – but that’s sort of the point. The caravan itself is clean and functional, though don’t expect luxury finishes or anything. What you get is space for a big group, your own little kitchen so you’re not stuck buying overpriced chips every meal, and honestly, decent beds that don’t feel like you’re sleeping on concrete. The shower’s small but the water pressure’s actually not bad, which is more than I can say for some of the guesthouses I’ve stayed in around here.

Here’s what I really liked – you can park right there without worrying about permits or meters, and you’re close enough to walk to the beach but far enough back that you don’t get the full chaos of the seafront. The owners clearly know this area well; they’ll give you the real scoop on where to get proper fish and chips (not the tourist traps) and which days the markets are worth hitting up. During peak summer it gets busy obviously, but in shoulder season you’ve got this weird peaceful thing going on where you can actually hear the sea at night. It’s not boutique hotel quiet, but it’s not holiday park mayhem either. If you’re traveling with kids or a big group and want somewhere that feels more like a base camp than a fancy retreat, this works really well. Just manage expectations – you’re getting honest accommodation in a spot that’s all about simple seaside pleasures, not Instagram-worthy luxury.
