Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Pucón over the years, and Complejo Turístico Pucón is one of those spots that actually gets what travelers want – you know what I mean? It’s tucked away on Prolongación Colo-Colo, which honestly is perfect because you’re close enough to walk into town (maybe 10 minutes to the main plaza) but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the summer crowds stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM. The whole setup feels more like a well-designed retreat than your typical hotel, and I mean that in the best way possible.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to create something that feels authentically Chilean without trying too hard. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe but with touches that actually make sense for the location – thick blankets for those chilly Araucanía nights, proper blackout curtains (trust me, summer sunrises come early here), and windows that actually open wide enough to let in that crisp mountain air. The staff genuinely seems to know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. They’ll point you toward the good hiking trails up Villarrica or tell you which thermal springs are worth the drive – not just the touristy ones everyone talks about.
Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be a five-star resort with all the bells and whistles, but what they do, they do really well. The common areas have this relaxed energy where you’ll actually want to hang out and plan your next day’s adventure. Parking’s easy (which, if you’ve driven around Pucón in January, you know is a blessing), and the whole place has this quiet confidence about it. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because leaving felt premature – sometimes you find a place that just fits, you know? Plus, being on that side of town means you’re perfectly positioned for day trips to Huerquehue or the Ojos del Caburgua waterfalls without having to navigate through the town center traffic first thing in the morning.
