Camping Roma
Camping Roma Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Camping Roma, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a campground — but this place completely changed my perspective on what camping accommodations can be. Located right in Ventimiglia, just minutes from the French border, this four-star property feels more like a well-designed resort than your typical camping experience. The grounds are immaculately maintained, and you can immediately sense why couples rate the location so highly.
Location & Setting
You know what really struck me? The strategic positioning here is brilliant. You’re literally a stone’s throw from both the Mediterranean coast and the charming old town of Ventimiglia, yet the campground itself feels peacefully removed from any tourist chaos. The fact that guests consistently rate the location 8.4 out of 10 makes perfect sense when you realize you can walk to the beach, explore the famous Friday market, or even pop across to France for a day trip. The parking situation is actually refreshing — free private spots right on site, which is honestly a godsend in this part of the Italian Riviera where parking can be a nightmare.
Accommodations & Amenities
The accommodations here range from traditional camping spots to more comfortable mobile homes and bungalows, each thoughtfully positioned to maximize privacy. What impressed me most was how each unit comes with its own outdoor space — perfect for morning coffee or evening aperitivos. The facilities are modern and spotless, and there’s this lovely communal area where you’ll often find families gathering in the evenings. The property also features a small restaurant that serves surprisingly good local dishes, though I’d recommend venturing into town for dinner at least once.
The Ventimiglia Experience
Staying here gives you the perfect base for exploring this underrated corner of Liguria. The old town’s medieval streets are fascinating to wander, especially early morning when the light hits those ancient stone buildings just right. I mean, you’re also perfectly positioned for day trips along the coast — Sanremo is just 20 minutes away, and Monaco is easily reachable if you’re feeling fancy. The local train station connects you to the entire Riviera, making this spot ideal for travelers who want to explore without constantly packing and unpacking.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Camping Roma apart is how it manages to feel both relaxed and refined. Couples particularly appreciate the romantic potential here — imagine having your morning espresso surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, then spending the day exploring coastal towns or hiking in the nearby hills. The staff genuinely cares about your experience, offering local tips and helping arrange activities. It’s that rare place where you can enjoy nature and tranquility without sacrificing comfort or convenience, and honestly, the value for money in this expensive region is pretty remarkable.

We stade in a bungalow with covered terrace, bathroom and kitchenette. All in all ist was a pleasant bungalow. Among the offered facilities I would mention the restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. Further more we enjoyed the football pitch inside and the wide alleys.

Basic, clean with all we needed, including outside deck to relax. Relatively close to beach and also to both hilltop town and shops. Restaurant on site was fantastic.
