Camping Cadí Vacances & Spa

Camping Cadí Vacances & Spa Overview
I’ll be honest — when I first heard about Camping Cadí Vacances & Spa, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name suggests camping, but this four-star property in Gósol is actually something much more sophisticated than your typical campground experience. It’s tucked away in the Catalan Pyrenees, and honestly, the setting alone makes it worth the trip up those winding mountain roads.
The location is absolutely spectacular, and I mean that — couples consistently rate it 9.4 out of 10, which tells you everything you need to know. Gósol sits at about 1,400 meters above sea level, surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. You know what’s really cool? This is the same village where Picasso spent a transformative summer in 1906, and you can actually feel that creative energy in the crisp mountain air.
What surprised me most was how they’ve managed to blend outdoor accommodation with genuine comfort. Your room options range from well-appointed mobile homes to more traditional hotel-style accommodations, all designed to make the most of those incredible mountain views. The interiors are clean and modern — nothing fancy, but everything you need after a day exploring the trails.
The spa facilities are where this place really sets itself apart from other mountain retreats. After hiking the nearby Pedraforca massif (which, trust me, is a workout), there’s nothing better than soaking in their heated pools while looking out at the peaks you just conquered. The spa isn’t huge, but it’s thoughtfully designed and the contrast between the cool mountain air and warm water is just perfect.
Speaking of hiking — and this is something you won’t find in most hotel descriptions — the trailheads are literally right outside your door. The GR 107 trail that circles Pedraforca starts practically from the property, and there are dozens of other routes ranging from gentle walks to serious alpine challenges. I spent hours just wandering the beech and pine forests, and honestly, the silence up there is something you don’t experience in many places anymore.
The village of Gósol itself is tiny — maybe 200 people — but it has this authentic charm that larger resort towns have lost. There’s a small grocery store, a couple of local restaurants, and that’s about it. What I loved was how the hotel staff actually knows the area intimately and can point you toward hidden spots that aren’t in any guidebook.
One thing to keep in mind is that this isn’t a place for nightlife or shopping — the nearest real town is Berga, about 45 minutes down the mountain. But that isolation is exactly the point. You come here to disconnect, to breathe clean air, and to remember what silence actually sounds like. The parking is ample and free, which matters when you’re this far from public transportation.
The dining situation is pretty straightforward — there’s an on-site restaurant that serves solid Catalan mountain cuisine, nothing revolutionary but fresh and satisfying after a day outdoors. I particularly enjoyed their local lamb dishes and the hearty stews that are perfect for the cooler evenings. If you’re staying in one of the units with a kitchenette, you can stock up on supplies in the village or make the drive to Berga for more variety.
What really impressed me was the attention to environmental sustainability — they’ve managed to create comfortable accommodations without overwhelming the natural setting. The buildings blend into the landscape rather than dominating it, and you get the sense that they genuinely care about preserving what makes this area special.
The weather up here can be unpredictable, even in summer, so pack layers. I was there in July and still needed a jacket in the evenings. Winter transforms the place completely — it becomes a base for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, though the access road can be challenging in heavy snow.
Look, this isn’t going to appeal to everyone. If you need constant entertainment or urban amenities, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re looking for a place to genuinely unwind, to reconnect with nature, and to experience a part of Catalonia that most tourists never see, then Camping Cadí Vacances & Spa delivers exactly what it promises. The combination of comfortable accommodation, excellent location, and that remarkable mountain setting creates something pretty special — just don’t expect it to be anything other than what it is.
