Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places along the Brittany coast, but this little gem tucked away on Impasse des Hautes Grées is something else entirely. You know how most “boutique” places just slap the label on and call it a day? Well, this isn’t that. The Bungalow Balnéo Jacuzzi Sauna is actually what it sounds like – a proper wellness retreat disguised as accommodation, and honestly, I didn’t want to leave.

First thing you notice pulling up is how quiet it gets once you turn off the main road toward Erquy’s center. The impasse is this narrow little dead-end street that feels completely removed from everything, which is perfect because you’re literally five minutes from the town but might as well be in your own private world. The owner – lovely woman, by the way – clearly put serious thought into every detail. The jacuzzi isn’t some afterthought crammed into a corner; it’s positioned so you can actually see a slice of countryside while you’re soaking. And that sauna? I mean, I’ve been in hotel saunas that feel like afterthoughts, but this one has that proper cedar smell and gets genuinely hot. You can hear birds chirping outside while you’re sweating it out, which sounds cheesy but actually works.

What really got me though was how everything just flows together naturally. The whole place has this Scandinavian-meets-Breton vibe that somehow doesn’t feel forced – lots of light wood, clean lines, but with those thick stone walls that remind you you’re definitely in France. The bed is ridiculously comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s this little kitchenette that’s actually functional if you want to grab supplies from the Erquy market and stay in. Parking’s right there, which is clutch because finding spots in Erquy proper during summer can be a nightmare. I stayed in October, so things were quieter, but I imagine even in peak season this feels like a refuge. The whole setup just makes sense – you can hit the coastal path that runs from Erquy to Cap Fréhel (seriously, do this walk), come back tired and salty, and sink into that jacuzzi while dinner cooks. It’s the kind of place that makes you rethink what a vacation should actually feel like, you know? Not rushing around checking boxes, but just… existing somewhere beautiful for a few days.
