HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what struck me first about Blairgowrie Holiday Park? It’s actually not what you’d expect from the name. I mean, when I hear “holiday park,” I’m usually thinking of cramped caravans and screaming kids everywhere, but this place on Hatton Road is honestly more like a proper resort that just happens to call itself a holiday park. The moment you pull through the gates, there’s this immediate sense that someone here actually cares about the details – the landscaping isn’t just functional, it’s genuinely pretty, and the whole setup feels more thoughtful than your typical Scottish getaway spot.

The location is what really makes this work, though. Blairgowrie itself is one of those Scottish towns that manages to be both properly charming and actually useful – you’ve got the River Ericht running right through town, decent shops that aren’t just tourist tat, and you’re perfectly positioned for exploring Perthshire without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere. From Hatton Road, you can walk into the town center in maybe ten minutes, which is brilliant because parking in Blairgowrie’s center can be a bit of a nightmare during summer. The park sits on the quieter side of town too, so you’re not dealing with traffic noise, but you’ll definitely hear the river on calm evenings – which is actually quite lovely once you get used to it.

What genuinely impressed me was how they’ve managed to earn that 5-star rating without losing the relaxed feel that makes Scottish holidays special. The facilities are spot-on (the shower blocks are consistently clean, there’s proper WiFi throughout, and they’ve got that tricky balance of organized activities without the aggressive entertainment team vibe), but it’s the little things that show they know what they’re doing. Check-in is refreshingly straightforward, the staff actually know the local area when you ask for recommendations, and they’ve figured out how to keep families happy without making it feel like a children’s theme park. I’d say the 9.1 rating makes perfect sense – it’s high enough that you know you’re getting quality, but not so perfect that you’re paying resort prices for what should be a laid-back Scottish break. Honestly, if you’re looking for a base to explore the Highlands without roughing it, or just want somewhere the whole family can actually relax, this place gets the balance right.
