BIG4 Tassie Getaway Parks St Helens
BIG4 Tassie Getaway Parks St Helens Overview
Honestly, when I first pulled up to BIG4 Tassie Getaway Parks on Penelope Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name sounds a bit corporate, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into St Helens proper, which means you’re not stuck way out in some industrial area like a lot of holiday parks. You can literally walk to the main drag for coffee or grab fish and chips without needing to drive anywhere.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to feel both family-friendly and peaceful at the same time. I mean, there are definitely kids around – it’s a holiday park after all – but the layout is smart enough that you’re not stuck listening to someone else’s toddler having a meltdown at 6 AM. The sites are well-spaced, and honestly, the facilities are way better than most places I’ve stayed along the east coast. The amenities block was actually clean (shocking, I know), and there’s proper hot water pressure, which… well, if you’ve done much camping around Tassie, you’ll appreciate that small miracle.
The location is really the star here though. St Helens isn’t just some random stop – you’re right on the doorstep of some seriously good beach action. Bay of Fires is basically next door, and I’m talking about those incredible orange-lichen rocks that everyone posts on Instagram, except you’ll actually understand why when you see them at sunset. Plus, if you’re into fishing, the boat ramp is close enough that you can be on the water before the crowds hit. The staff actually know their stuff too – they pointed me toward some walking tracks I never would have found otherwise, including this little path that connects to the rail trail without having to drive to the main entrance. Small thing, but it saved me a bunch of time and petrol. The whole setup just works well if you want to explore the northeast without constantly packing and unpacking. Sure, it’s not the cheapest option around, but for what you get – decent facilities, solid location, and staff who seem to actually care – it’s worth the extra few bucks a night.
Exclusive resorts offer guests unparalleled luxury and comfort in breathtaking locations, with world-class dining, spa services, and activities tailored to create the ultimate vacation experience.

Beautiful newly appointed cabin that suited our large family well.
What could be improved: Some furniture made spaces a bit tight.
My daughter badly broke 2 bones in her arm on monkey bars, not necessarily a fault of the park but bark under bars could use a rake.
Hannah from New Zealand (March 20, 2025)
Everything is good, room very clean. All the staff we met were super friendly. I slept very well that night
What could be improved: Kitchen can have a bit more plates and bowls I think
Adamson from Australia (March 13, 2025)
Very well set out. Clean and gardens well presented
What could be improved: It was raining and there were no mats inside to wipe feet.
Not enough power points. No hooks in bathroom of cabin
Reinhold from Germany (March 8, 2025)
Nice and very tidy campsite! Our „apartment“ contained all necessities and everything on the campsite was easy to reach. Minor issues were solved immediately to our full satisfaction. We felt very welcome. Thank you!

We stay in MTB bunkhouse. Common toilets and kitchen are all very clean. Washing machines and clothes lines are available to be used. Staff and guests are all friendly. We shall stay there again. Thank you, Big 4!

Brigid from Australia (January 28, 2025)
The space was very comfortable and clean it was good meeting other residence there. The staff were very accommodating and fixed the air conditioning promptly
What could be improved: a little noisy ...but considering it was a family orientated accommodation it was acceptable and all was quiet by 9.30pm
Layah from Australia (November 26, 2024)
Pleasant location with good facilities that exceeded expectations.
What could be improved: There weren't any forks in the communal kitchen! Some labelling on the outdoor BBQ area was misleading about what was available in drawers.
Marianne from Australia (September 2, 2024)
The beds were super comfortable and warm, plenty of cupboard space, good heating. The place is beautifully landscaped, and kitchen facilities excellent.
What could be improved: It was stormy and hard to get to the toilet in the middle of the night, especially because there was no lighting above the granite steps from our cabin to the toilet block.
Kirrily from Australia (July 17, 2024)
It was close to the township and easy to find on the main road as well as the facilities were clean and had everything there I needed
