BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks – Nambucca Heads
You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually massive – I mean, when you pull up on Swimming Creek Road, you realize BIG4 wasn’t kidding around with that name. The Nambucca Heads park sprawls across this prime chunk of land that’s basically a two-minute walk from the beach, but here’s the thing everyone gets wrong – it’s not right on the sand. Instead, you get this perfect buffer zone where you can hear the waves without dealing with salt spray coating everything you own.
The setup here is honestly pretty clever. They’ve got everything from powered sites for caravans to these cabin-style accommodations that don’t feel like you’re camping in a tin box. I stayed during school holidays (mistake number one if you want peace and quiet), but even with kids running around the pool area, the layout means you can find quieter spots toward the back. The facilities block is where they really shine – hot showers that actually stay hot, and laundry facilities that don’t eat your coins. Small victories, but when you’ve been on the road for weeks, trust me, these things matter. The camp kitchen gets busy around dinner time, so either get there early or be prepared to wait for a hotplate.
What I really appreciated was how they handle the whole tourist town thing without going overboard. Nambucca Heads gets absolutely packed in summer, but this place manages to feel separate from the chaos while keeping you close enough to walk into town for groceries or hit up the RSL for a decent counter meal. The river’s right there too – honestly better for swimming than the ocean some days, especially when the surf’s rough. Staff here actually know the area, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They’ll tell you which beaches are good for fishing, when the river mouth is worth checking out, or where to grab supplies without paying tourist prices. The whole operation runs smoothly without feeling corporate, if that makes sense. It’s got that established holiday park vibe where families come back year after year, but they’re not stuck in the past either – wifi actually works, and the amenities feel maintained rather than just functional.

It was a beautiful cabin, close to the beach.
It was modern and comfy, and most importantly, it was quiet. I'd like to stay longer.
Could be improved
Under the sink in the kitchen were bugs, had to kill'em first.

Beautiful location right on the beach. We were 3 ladies on a road trip. Would be fantastic for families. Try the Chinese restaurant in the main street. Super clean with everything you need.

The mattresses in the 2nd room would be ok for kids and were fine for one night. Could be a bit thicker for adults.

Travelling to get to a funeral so only stayed one night. The lady at the reception was lovely.
The cabin was clean and comfortable and right in front of the pool. We were able to walk down to the beach and the kids had a play on the jumping pillow. We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy this beautiful park.
