Bayview Escape
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Bayview Escape at Church Point Holiday Park, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — you know how holiday parks can be. But this four-star spot in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea completely changed my perspective. The setting is actually stunning, perched right where you can catch those sweeping coastal views that make Northumberland’s coastline so special. There’s free parking right on site, which might sound basic but trust me, when you’re hauling bags and don’t want to trek half a mile from some distant car park, it matters.
The Accommodation
My room had this lovely seaside cottage feel without being overly themed or kitschy. The furnishings felt thoughtful — comfortable bed, decent storage space, and that crucial seaside holiday essential: somewhere to dump sandy clothes without making a mess. What really impressed me was the attention to detail in the kitchen area. I mean, they’d actually thought about what people need when they’re staying somewhere for more than just a night — proper mugs, enough counter space, a fridge that actually keeps things cold.
Location and Surroundings
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea isn’t one of those tourist hotspots that gets completely overrun, which is honestly part of its charm. The beach is literally a short walk away, and it’s the kind of place where you can actually find a quiet spot even on decent weather days. The coastal path here connects to some brilliant walking routes — I spent hours just wandering along the clifftops. You’re also close enough to Ashington and Blyth if you need proper shops or fancy a change of scenery, but far enough away that you actually feel like you’ve escaped somewhere.
Dining and Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves solid, unpretentious food that hits the spot after a day exploring the coast. Nothing fancy, but they know their fish and chips, and the Sunday roast was actually quite good. What I appreciated was that they source locally where they can — the seafood tastes like it came from these waters, not some industrial supplier. The spa facilities are compact but well-maintained, perfect for unwinding after those long coastal walks that somehow always end up being longer than you planned.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.8 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — you can feel why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place where staff actually remember your name after a couple of days, where the WiFi works when you need it but doesn’t dominate the experience. Couples seem particularly drawn to the peaceful atmosphere and those romantic sunset views over the North Sea. The whole setup strikes this perfect balance between having everything you need without feeling overly managed or resort-like. Sometimes the best holidays happen in places that just let you be, and Bayview Escape gets that completely right.
