8 berth caravan PG214 Golden Palm Chapel st Leonards

HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about staying in a caravan on South Road in Chapel St Leonards, I wasn’t exactly expecting much. But this 8-berth setup at Golden Palm completely changed my perspective on what a seaside getaway can be. You know what struck me first? The location is actually brilliant. Chapel St Leonards sits right between Skegness and Mablethorpe, so you get that proper Lincolnshire coast experience without the absolute chaos of peak-season Skeggy (though let’s face it, sometimes you want that chaos too).
The caravan itself – well, it’s spacious in a way that surprises you. Eight berths sounds cramped on paper, but whoever designed this layout actually thought it through. There’s genuine living space where you can spread out after a day on the beach, and honestly, the kitchen setup works better than some London flats I’ve stayed in. What really gets me is how quiet it is at night – I mean, you’re close enough to hear the sea if you open the windows, but far enough from the main Skegness madness that you can actually sleep. The site has this sort of established feel to it, like it’s been here long enough to know what works. Parking’s right there (thank god, because hauling beach gear is nobody’s idea of fun), and the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – none of that corporate hotel rigmarole.
Here’s the thing about Chapel St Leonards that took me a while to appreciate – it’s got this old-school seaside charm that feels authentic rather than put-on. You can walk to the beach easily from the caravan, and it’s the kind of beach where kids can actually run around without you panicking every two seconds. The local shops have that proper seaside feel – I’m talking traditional fish and chips that don’t cost a fortune, little arcades that haven’t been completely modernized into oblivion. During the day, you get families and dog walkers, but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. The 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. It’s not trying to be a fancy boutique hotel (though calling it that isn’t entirely wrong – it has character), and that’s precisely why it works so well. If you’re looking for marble bathrooms and room service, this obviously isn’t your spot. But if you want a proper base for exploring the Lincolnshire coast, somewhere the kids can be kids and you can actually relax without breaking the bank, then this caravan delivers in spades.
