19 Park Views Just outside Penrith for Holidays and Short Breaks please no commercial vans thankyou

HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “19 Park Views Just outside Penrith for Holidays and Short Breaks please no commercial vans thankyou,” I thought someone had accidentally copied their entire Airbnb listing title. But you know what? That quirky, slightly rambling name actually tells you everything you need to know about this place in High Hesket. It’s run by someone who cares enough about the experience to literally spell out their expectations upfront, and honestly, that attention to detail shows in every corner of the property.
High Hesket itself is one of those villages that most people drive through without really noticing – it’s about ten minutes from Penrith proper, tucked away from the main A6 road noise. The location is actually brilliant if you’re planning to explore the Lake District but want to avoid the tourist mayhem in places like Windermere or Keswick. You’re close enough to nip into Penrith for a proper Tesco run or a meal at the George Hotel (their Sunday roast is worth the drive), but far enough out that mornings are genuinely quiet – just birds and the occasional tractor rumbling past. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to navigate a car around Grasmere in summer will appreciate.
What strikes me most about this place is how it manages to feel both polished and unpretentious at the same time. The rooms have those little touches that show someone’s actually thought about what travelers need – proper reading lights, enough plug sockets, and windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, I know). The “park views” mentioned in the name aren’t some grand estate gardens, but there’s something genuinely peaceful about looking out over the village green area, especially in the early morning when the light hits just right. The whole setup feels more like staying at a thoughtful friend’s house than a traditional hotel, which explains that impressive 9.3 rating. The hosts clearly know their stuff – they’ll point you toward the best fell walks that aren’t completely overrun, or suggest which pubs in the area actually serve decent food (hint: avoid the one with the fancy website). I mean, this is the kind of place where you can actually have a conversation about whether to tackle Helvellyn from the Striding Edge route or take the gentler path from Thirlmere, and get advice that’s genuinely useful rather than just googled five minutes earlier.

A lovely space with ample space for a family, easy to find and has everything you need. We only stayed for the one night but would happily rebook if visiting the area for a longer holiday. Communication from the host was excellent and she went above that expected when we asked about where we could get breakfast locally. It would be a nice touch to...

The property was clean and well maintained. My friend and I stayed over for one night with our dogs and we enjoyed our stay. Jo was lovely, keeping us up to date on our stay and answered any questions we had. I don't think the photos do it justice.
